Jean-Joseph Perraud’s marble Le Désespoir (Despair) was executed in 1869 for the 1869 Salon, after being received with universal acclaim in plaster at the 1861 Salon. The figure, seated on the ground, according to a well-established convention, is intended to be an allegory of the tragic condition of human existence. The figure is without any accessories, and allows the viewer complete freedom of interpretation.

Unlike the title, I don’t think this sculpture has any “despair” feeling; I feel that he has a leisurely and comfortable feeling ^^

Unfortunately, my shooting technique is not enough to completely construct this beautiful piece ; I am currently presenting in a point cloud, hoping that one day I will be able to Reconstruction him well.
